Liquor & Gaming NSW has issued its latest gaming machine data updates as part of the NSW Government's commitment to boost transparency on gambling activity in local communities.
In March, the Government overhauled its reporting of gaming machine statistics to include a wider range of data updated every six months on the Liquor & Gaming NSW website.
This information was previously included yearly in departmental annual reports or could be ordered for a fee.
The data reports can be viewed on our website and include:
- Gaming machine numbers and net profit for each NSW local government area (LGA)
- Net profit rankings and machine numbers for all NSW venues with gaming machines
- Gaming machine tax paid to the NSW Government for each LGA.
The latest reports cover 1 December 2017 to 31 May 2018 for clubs and 1 January 2018 to 30 June 2018 for hotels.
Compared to the previous six-month period:
- Net profit fell by 3.4% for clubs and 6.2% for hotels
- The number of gaming machines in operation fell by 265 in clubs and by 181 in hotels – an overall fall of 446
- The number of club gaming venues fell by 10, and the number of hotel gaming venues fell by 19
Compared to the same six-month period in 2017: Volcano island slot machine.
- Net profit increased by 0.6% for clubs and 7.4% for hotels
- The number of gaming machines in operation fell by 547 in clubs and by 266 in hotels – an overall fall of 813
- The number of club gaming venues fell by 18, and the number of hotel gaming venues fell by 33.
